Welcome to Ruby Slippers.
As health & care professionals and educators we often find ourselves taking care of others most of our time, and only pay attention to our own needs when we are experiencing burn out or stress. Have you ever asked yourself "why do I keep doing this?" or felt stuck in an unhappy or unsatisfied role? Do you find yourself with nothing left in the tank to take care of yourself? Frustrated the system does not allow you to do the professional role you trained to do?
Do you want to fall in love again with your professional career? Ready to find a new path within your profession or choose a different road?
Ruby Slippers has been created to support you, and others like you, understand what makes you tick, change what is within your control, recognise ineffective habitual patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving, and take action to embed healthier patterns.
You may find the Stories of Reflection page of interest to find out more about the themes and tools Ruby Slippers works with.

Ruby Slippers philosophy is underpinned by:
I am most definitely an eternal student and an artist at heart. I love spending hours with my nose in a book or discussing the meaning of life with others. I balance my need for contact with my communities and the external world by recharging my batteries through painting and pottery.
Something I am deeply passionate about is enabling the health and wellbeing of other practitioners in my two fields of practice: Health & Care and Education. These areas of work attract people wanting to make a difference to the lives of others whilst challenging their own capacity to stay well and happy.
This passion and my eternal student nature lead me to learn more about psychology, counselling and even Reiki. Ultimately finding that Transactional Analysis complemented and enhanced my Occupational Therapy skills to enable others to find their path and feel at home in their own shoes.

Occupational Therapists harness the power of our everyday occupations- that's the things we do to occupy our time- as therapeutic interventions or outcomes with individuals, groups or communities to support health and wellbeing.
Occupational Therapists work with people across the life span, they work holistically with the person to learn or relearn ways of engaging in their roles, habits, routines and occupations that are necessary or meaningful for them to do.
Reasons people may find themselves working with an Occupational Therapist could be illness or injury, environmental disruptions or socioeconomic factors impacting their capacity to make occupational choices which support wellbeing.
To practice in the UK, Occupational Therapists must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council HCPC
The professional body for Occupational Therapy in the UK is the Royal College of Occupational Therapy.
